While World Environment Day is globally observed on 5 June, this year’s celebrations in Bangladesh were extended due to the Eid-ul-Adha vacation, allowing greater participation from communities, schools and stakeholders. Children’s Art Competition Sparks Environmental Awareness at Envoy Textiles: Bhaluka, 28 June 2025 — In a vibrant celebration of environmental awareness, Envoy Textiles Limited (ETL) hosted a Children’s Art Competition at the Eco-Park. The event saw enthusiastic participation from 20 children of ETL employees alongside 10 students from Noluakuri Kumari Maria High School. Aimed at fostering awareness among the younger generation about the dangers of plastic pollution, the competition encouraged participants to creatively express their thoughts on environmental sustainability. Through their imaginative artworks, the children highlighted critical issues such as the damaging effects of plastic waste on oceans, rivers, and land; the significance of recycling; and the advantages of adopting eco-friendly alternatives. The young artists displayed remarkable creativity and a strong sense of responsibility towards environmental stewardship, reflecting a hopeful outlook for a cleaner, greener future. Envoy Textiles Hosts Ending Plastic Pollution Awareness Program with Stakeholders, Highlights Recycled and Biodegradable Plastic Challenges Bhaluka, 30 June 2025 — Envoy Textiles Limited (ETL) hosted a significant awareness program at its Visual Center focused on ending plastic pollution and promoting sustainable alternatives. The event gathered around 40 students, 30 external delegates and 20 senior officials from ETL and partner organizations, providing a diverse platform to discuss reducing plastic use and encouraging eco-friendly solutions. The program’s distinguished guest, Mr. Mesbabul Alam, Deputy Director of the Department of Environment (Mymensingh), praised ETL’s commitment to phasing out all packaging plastics by 2026. He called this a pioneering step in the textile industry and urged others to follow the example. Lt. Colonel Abdul Kader Md. Ashraf Al Mamun, Principal of Rajendrapur Cantonment Public School & College, highlighted the school’s efforts in tree plantation and stressed the vital role of education in raising environmental awareness among youth. A representative from Ecovia Plastic highlighted the environmental benefits of biodegradable plastics but noted price challenges, urging wider adoption and supportive policies for better accessibility. In a technical session, Mr. Hasnat Kabir, country representative of USB BD, a recycling standards certification body, discussed challenges and limitations in plastic recycling standardization. Mr. Abu Sayeed, Sustainability Responsible at strategic partner M&J Group, thanked Envoy Textiles for its environmental efforts and highlighted the critical issue of river pollution in the Mymensingh region. Envoy’s senior management agreed on a plan to phase out virgin plastics, replacing them with recycled plastics as part of their sustainability roadmap. The program concluded with a lively awareness rally led by ETL employees, energizing participants and reinforcing a collective commitment to fight plastic pollution. Envoy Textiles Distributes 10,000 Trees to Schools and Local Communities Between 15 June and 30 July 2025, Envoy Textiles Limited (ETL) distributed 10,000 tree saplings to 11 local schools and their surrounding communities as part of its ongoing biodiversity and greening efforts. The saplings were handed over at the schools’ convenience, encouraging active participation from students, teachers and community members. Students enthusiastically joined tree planting activities, guided by teachers and supported by local residents, fostering a shared commitment to environmental care. Many expressed excitement about contributing to a greener future and the benefits these trees will bring to air quality and local biodiversity.
