Yarn  Expo Autumn to inspire international exchange and promote sustainability

The upcoming Yarn Expo Autumn, scheduled for late September in Shanghai, is poised to galvanize global trade and innovation in the yarn and fibre industry. Organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd in conjunction with the Sub‑Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT, the fair is expected to host over 500 exhibitors from more than 15 countries, including newly added Germany and Thailand, alongside highlights such as the India Pavilion and Pakistan Zone. Anticipation is high, with fringe events like the “New Fibre New World – Textile Materials Innovation Forum” and trend showcases from Tongkun offering deep insights into sustainability and cutting‑edge product development. The Autumn edition, held concurrently with Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics, CHIC, and PH Value, consistently attracts a robust international audience; last year’s event drew nearly 22,000 buyers from 81 countries to engage with approximately 540 exhibitors. Notably, international attendance rose by 6.7%, underscoring expanding global interest. The expo will debut a Silk Yarn Zone and feature a spectrum of sustainable innovations—from bio‑based and recycled yarns to high‑performance fibres made from bottle flakes and castor beans. Senior officials emphasise the event’s eco‑centric mission: Wilmet Shea, of Messe Frankfurt, noted that the expo actively “puts the eco back in economy,” making it a vital platform for sustainable sourcing. With fringe forums tackling biodegradation, low‑carbon traceability and emerging fibre tech, Yarn Expo Autumn is positioning itself as a dynamic hub for East–West collaboration and green textile innovation—bringing suppliers, buyers and influencing global trends under one roof.
