CPD Briefing Spotlights GSolaric’s Rooftop Solar CSR and First OPEX Model

Naznin Akter, Managing Director of GSolaric, delivered an insightful speech on corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives and the groundbreaking implementation of Bangladesh’s first OPEX model at a press briefing organized by the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD). The event focused on the design and implementation framework of the National Rooftop Solar Programme. During her address, Engr. Naznin Akter showcased the Magura High School Rooftop 25-Megawatt Solar Project, emphasising its impact not only as a clean energy solution but also as a powerful example of community-centred CSR. She highlighted how such projects can bring lasting socio-economic benefits to educational institutions and local communities. She also discussed GSolaric’s pioneering role in executing the country’s first OPEX (Operating Expenditure) model for rooftop solar systems, which enables institutions to adopt solar energy without upfront capital investment. This model is proving to be a game-changer for scaling renewable energy in the industrial and commercial sectors of Bangladesh. She also added that how this ambitious program can be made implementable and sustainable. In addition, emphasis was placed on ensuring quality, monitoring, adherence to net metering guidelines, and developing an effective evaluation framework to achieve the proposed target of 3,000 megawatts of rooftop solar power. “The rooftop solar initiative, especially under innovative models like OPEX, is vital to achieving our national renewable energy goals,” said Engr. Naznin Akter. “Projects like Magura High School exemplify how renewable energy can be deployed sustainably while creating real value for communities.” The CPD-organized briefing brought together policymakers, energy experts, and industry leaders to discuss the National Rooftop Solar Programme’s strategic priorities, including quality assurance, monitoring, net metering guidelines, and performance evaluation frameworks.
