ALLIED Expands Transparency Ahead of EU Sustainability Rules

ALLIED Feather + Down, a global leader in high-performance, responsibly sourced, and sustainably processed down, is taking major steps toward a more transparent textiles future. The company is expanding its supply chain transparency initiatives and will share early insights with the industry during Première Vision Paris, scheduled for September 16–18, where they will exhibit at booth 6L66.

In anticipation of the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) — which will soon set mandatory sustainability and transparency requirements for products sold across the EU — ALLIED has partnered with Green Threads DPP to conduct a comprehensive audit of its down processing facilities. This initiative builds on ALLIED’s past achievements, including its adoption of the Responsible Down Standard and the development of the Track My Down consumer education platform, creating what the company believes will be the new gold standard for transparency in the down industry.

“As a renewable and biodegradable byproduct of the food industry, down is one of the most sustainable insulation options available,” said Daniel Uretsky, President of ALLIED Feather + Down. “With the work we are doing with Green Threads, we will have additional data to support these claims, helping futureproof our partner brands and their customers as new transparency regulations are implemented.”

The EU’s final standards for ESPR and Digital Product Passport (DPP) compliance are expected to be released by the end of 2025. ALLIED’s expanded efforts will enable brand partners to easily access detailed sustainability data, streamline compliance, and showcase their environmental commitments.

“ALLIED are leaders in supply chain transparency and therefore understand how important this transparency has become in the modern materials marketplace,” said Ross Alexander, CEO of Green Threads DPP. “The audits we are conducting will help ALLIED and their brand partners navigate compliance requirements and create differentiation at retail, where customers are increasingly seeking informed purchasing decisions.”

Through this initiative, ALLIED reinforces its role as a pioneer in materials transparency, setting a benchmark that aligns with global sustainability goals and prepares the industry for the next era of accountability and responsible production.
