Textilcolor AG to Showcase Water- and Energy-Saving Textile Technologies

The textile industry remains under significant environmental pressure, with sustainability becoming a defining competitive factor. Globally, the sector consumes approximately 93 billion cubic meters of water annually, equivalent to around 4% of total freshwater use. This has drawn increasing criticism, pushing textile manufacturers to adopt eco-friendly processes or face sales challenges and stricter regulations. Their innovative processes, EcoDye and EcoFix, reduce water use by up to 71% and cut fossil fuel energy consumption by up to 50%, significantly lowering carbon footprints while boosting production efficiency. Detlef Fischer, CEO of Textilcolor AG, stated, “We have always stood for innovative, sustainable, and high-quality solutions in textile chemistry. The trade fair in Singapore is the right platform for effectively showcasing our technologies as part of a future-focused industry.” This year’s theme, “ECO Performance Technologies from Switzerland”, reflects the company’s commitment to integrating sustainability into its core philosophy, including using renewable raw materials like plant-based oils to conserve fossil resources. The EcoDye process, designed for polyester (PES) dyeing, shortens production times, reduces energy use by at least 34%, and eliminates certain steps such as prewashing. Compatible with existing recipes and bluesign®-approved, EcoDye is one of the most resource-efficient dyeing systems available. When combined with EcoFix and EcoThren, reactive and vat dyeing processes benefit from reduced rinse baths, saving up to 40% in time while improving product quality and lowering costs. Additional innovations include EcoPhob, a PFC-free hydrophobic treatment suitable for all fiber types, offering excellent wash resistance and made from the maximum possible proportion of renewable raw materials. It can also be used to manufacture Öko-Tex Standard 100 Class 1 textiles. Textilcolor AG differentiates itself by offering solutions for the entire textile process chain—pre-treatment, dyeing, finishing, printing, coating, pigmentation, and optical brightening—manufactured under strict ecological and sustainability standards.
