Combined with CITME, a textile machinery exhibition owned by the China Textile Machinery Association (CTMA) and The Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT TEX since 2008, the combined exhibition is staged outside of China for the first time.

“This Singapore edition marks a new milestone for ITMA ASIA + CITME. By bringing the latest machinery and digital solutions closer to growth markets across South and Southeast Asia and the Middle East, our aim is to offer a trusted platform for mill owners to source cutting-edge technologies that support operational modernisation and long-term competitiveness, particularly in advancing sustainability,” said Alex Zucchi, president of CEMATEX.

Gu Ping, president of CTMA added, “Amid a new wave of digital revolution, the global textile and textile machinery sectors now stand at the forefront of strategic transformation. As a premier platform on textile machinery, the exhibition not only showcases end-to-end solutions but acts as a bridge for efficient business collaboration across the supply chain.”

For regional textile machinery buyers in the region, ITMA ASIA + CITME, Singapore 2025 provides a strategic platform to source for cost-effective technologies that boost operational performance while ensuring compliance with sustainability standards and regulations.

Exhibiting countries

CEMATEX countries and China, both of which have robust textile machinery sectors, have strong presence on the show floor. Their exhibitors take up almost 70% of the exhibit space.

A total of 281 exhibitors from the nine CEMATEX countries booked over 38% of the net exhibit space. From among CEMATEX countries, Italy fields the largest contingent of 98 exhibitors, followed by Germany and Switzerland.

Chinese exhibitors totalling 310 book 30% of the exhibit space. From the rest of the world, India tops the list with 87 exhibitors.

Top product sectors

Of the 19 product sectors, finishing is the largest sector with 184 exhibitors; it occupies 22% of the exhibit space. The second biggest sector is spinning (167 exhibitors with 19% of exhibit space).

Other prominent sectors are knitting (99 exhibitors, 15% of exhibit space), weaving (80 exhibitors, 11% of exhibit space) and printing (56 exhibitors, 10% of exhibit space).

According to the show owners, many of the exhibits will spotlight solutions in circularity, resource efficiency, waterless processing, and renewable energy integration as the goal is to help Asian manufacturers move beyond volume-driven growth to embrace sustainable, impact-driven competitiveness.

ITMA ASIA + CITME, Singapore 2025 is organized by ITMA Services and co-organised by Beijing Textile Machinery International Exhibition Company. For more information on the exhibition, download the app or visit www.itmaasiasingapore.com. Visitor badges are available for purchase online.

Held alongside the exhibition is the ITMA Sustainability Forum: Accelerating the Green Transition. Taking place on 30 October, it is a half-day forum presented by CEMATEX with Singapore Fashion Council as the Programme Partner.

Mr Alex Zucchi, President of CEMATEX, said: “Exhibitor feedback has been very positive as the high-quality visitorship and serious business discussions are greatly appreciated. The exhibition has created a strong sense of optimism about the opportunities ahead amid current economic challenges.”

Mr Gu Ping, President of CTMA remarked: “Asia, the world’s largest textile hub, boasts a vast industrial scale and plays a key role globally. With the successful conclusion of the ITMA ASIA + CITME, Singapore 2025, it is clear that the Asian textile industry, encompassing regions such as East Asia, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, is experiencing rapid development. This also reflects the global textile industry’s demand for exploring emerging markets.”

Many of the exhibitors were elated by the outcome of their participation. Mr Tobias Schaefer, Vice President of Andritz Nonwoven & Textile, enthused: “The combined exhibition in Singapore proved to be a truly pivotal platform, bringing together a remarkably international audience. The high visitor numbers, the quality of discussions, and the strong focus on innovation and sustainability reflected the industry’s evolving priorities.”

Mr Stephane Picard, Sales & Marketing Manager at Pierret Industries, opined: “We are very pleased with the overall quality of the visitors at the exhibition. Despite the current market challenges, the event exceeded our expectations. The main objective of holding this show in Singapore was to attract people from Southeast Asia and Middle East markets, and the results were truly impressive.”

Sharing the same sentiment, Canlar Mekatronik Board Member Mr Kaan Cakici said: “We’re delighted with the overwhelming response received at the exhibition. The show days were filled with serious enquiries from buyers who came ready to invest and we concluded business deals during the show. The quality of discussions with visitors at our stand has given us confidence to expand our presence and support in the region.”

Underscoring the significance of the 2025 exhibition for the Indian market was Mr Rohit Kansal, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Textiles of India who led a 30-member-strong government delegation.

Mr Kansal remarked, “India is one of the largest participants and exhibitors in this exhibition here in Singapore. This reflects our strategic vision in driving our textile industry’s growth through innovation, manufacturing excellence and sustainability. The fair provides a good meeting ground for people to exchange ideas, to look at new technologies, discuss business propositions and to see the latest innovations.”

Later, speaking at the co-located ITMA Sustainability Forum, Mr Kansal highlighted the Indian textile industry’s green transformation.

The comprehensive showcase of textile and garment making technologies at ITMA ASIA + CITME, Singapore 2025 occupied more than 70,000 square metres of gross space and featured over 840 exhibitors from 30 countries and regions.

ITMA ASIA + CITME, Singapore 2025 is organised by ITMA Services and co-organised by Beijing Textile Machinery International Exhibition Company.

Shima Seiki Mfg., Ltd., the Japanese leader in computerized knitting technology and digital design solutions, is set to present its latest innovations at the Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Edition 2025, taking place from 2–4 September at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. The company will exhibit together with its Hong Kong and Chinese subsidiaries in the Digital Solutions Zone, a hub dedicated to cutting-edge advancements in textile and apparel technology.

Cotton production estimates have decreased significantly since last month, dropping from 25.9 million tonnes to 25.5 million tonnes, while shifts in trade patterns and demands from retailers and brands are making cotton’s origin increasingly important.
The decrease in production is largely coming from three countries: the United States (-400,000 tonnes), Pakistan (-100,000 tonnes), and Sudan (-50,000 tonnes). Water shortages and unusually dry weather are the issues for the US and Pakistan, while Sudan’s crop damage is the result of pest infestations.

Although consumption and trade numbers are largely unchanged from last month, import and export partners are shifting. China accounted for 40% of US cotton exports in 2023/24, but that number has dropped to 8% as the US has increased its trade with Vietnam, Pakistan, Turkey, and India. Those changes — combined with a US executive order that allows products made from US raw materials to be exempted from import tariffs — mean textile manufacturers must provide traceability. Retailers and brands are increasingly demanding traceability as well.
There are two other notable developments since last month:

India’s levels of cotton lint imports increased by nearly 3.3 times in 2024/25 compared to the prior season.

Bangladesh and India are expected to increase their US imports.
ICAC Data Rectification Process
The ICAC Secretariat is undertaking data rectification work, during which we will perform data adjustments for all our reported regions and countries. ICAC is the primary source for all of our statistical data. For this month, changes to cotton market variables have been made for Ethiopia from 2014/15 to the present, and the projected season. The data has been updated using information from the Ethiopian Cotton Organization, Ethiopia Revenue and Customs Service, and the Trade Data Monitor.

Global cotton production estimates have seen a notable drop compared to last month, decreasing from 25.9 million tonnes to 25.5 million tonnes. This reduction is attributed to declines in three key countries: United States (-400,000 tonnes), Pakistan (-100,000 tonnes), and Sudan (-50,000 tonnes). Water shortages and persistent dry weather conditions have impacted production in the US and Pakistan, while Sudan’s crop losses are primarily due to pest infestations.
Although global cotton consumption and trade figures remain stable, there are noticeable shifts in trading partners. The share of US cotton exports going to China, which accounted for 40% in 2023/24, has now dropped to just 8%. The US is now exporting more to Vietnam, Pakistan, Turkey, and India. A recent US executive order exempting products made from US raw materials from import tariffs has further intensified the need for traceability in the textile supply chain. Retailers and brands are increasingly requiring proof of cotton origin, making traceability a critical factor for manufacturers.
Two other important developments include:

India’s cotton lint imports have surged 3.3 times in 2024/25 compared to the previous season.

Bangladesh and India are expected to increase their imports of US cotton.

The International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) is performing a comprehensive data rectification process, updating figures for all regions and countries. This month, Ethiopia’s cotton data (2014/15 to present) has been revised using inputs from the Ethiopian Cotton Organization, Ethiopia Revenue and Customs Service, and Trade Data Monitor.

ICAC’s latest price projection for the 2025/26 season, based on current supply and demand, is 60 to 96 cents per pound, with a midpoint forecast of 76 cents per pound.
The monthly report Cotton This Month is authored by Parkhi Vats, ICAC Economic Affairs Officer. Subscribers can access full data via their accounts, and new users can subscribe for the next release scheduled for October 1, 2025.
