
Mumbai, January 2024 – Top rankings in a number of sustainability evaluations have been attained by LANXESS. The specialty chemicals firm received 79 out of 100 points, placing it top in the “Chemicals” category of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) Europe. With especially high scores in the categories of corporate ethics, human rights, water, climate strategy, and product stewardship, LANXESS placed fourth in the DJSI World.
MSCI ESG, a rating agency, reaffirmed LANXESS’ AA rating in November for the fourth consecutive year. Because of this, the specialty chemicals company is ranked among the best in the “Commodity & Diversified Chemicals” sector. The MSCI ESG evaluates how well businesses handle governance, social, and environmental (ESG) issues.
In November of the same year, rating agency ISS ESG confirmed LANXESS’ premier status and upgraded its rating from B- to B on a scale of A+ to D-. This places LANXESS in the top tier of chemical sector businesses. About 100 indicators are considered by ISS ESG for each industry.
A gold-level sustainability grade was also given to LANXESS by EcoVadis. This honor is given to the top 5% of the over 100,000 businesses that EcoVadis has assessed. Businesses evaluate their business partners’ sustainability performance using the EcoVadis grade.
On track to climate neutrality

By 2040, LANXESS wants its manufacturing and energy use to be climate neutral. By 2050, the business also wants to make the whole value chain climate neutral. The LANXESS plans will contribute to keeping global warming to 1.5°C, according to the well-known Science Based Targets project.
