Digital Love: India’s Valentine’s Gifting Sees 10M Online Orders

India’s gifting landscape is undergoing a digital transformation, with online platforms emerging as the preferred choice for festive and occasion-based shopping. In the first 11 days of February 2025 alone, Unicommerce’s Uniware platform processed over 10 million gifting orders, highlighting a major shift towards tech-enabled G-Commerce (Gift-Commerce).

As Valentine’s Day approaches, demand for personalized gifts is surging. Popular gifting categories include beauty and makeup, healthy treats, fitness products, books, and jewelry. Brands are also enhancing their online offerings with special packaging and personalized options, making digital gifting more appealing than ever.

Key Trends in Valentine’s 2025 Gifting

  • Top-selling products: Skincare gift combos, de-tan kits, makeup palettes, healthy chocolate hampers, fragrance sets, books, and jewelry (silver bands, rings, gold pendants).
  • Tier-II cities drive growth: Orders from Tier-II cities saw a 37% increase compared to 2024.
  • E-commerce expansion: A 24% YoY GMV growth, with brand websites experiencing stronger value growth than marketplaces.
  • Category preferences: Marketplaces saw higher demand for makeup and jewelry, while brand websites recorded increased sales of apparel, accessories, and travel gear.
  • Rise of personalization: Custom-curated gifts, personalized apparel, and bespoke accessories are gaining popularity, with florists and apparel brands offering extensive customization options.

Industry Insights & Market Growth

While Valentine’s Day is a key gifting occasion, India’s gifting market remains active throughout the year, with Raksha Bandhan, Diwali, Eid, Christmas, and weddings driving sustained demand. The sector is poised for significant growth, expected to reach USD 92.3 billion by 2030, fueled by new-age D2C brands and e-commerce platforms such as IGP.com, GIVA, Phool.co, Nathabit, and Zouk.

Tarun Joshi, Founder & CEO, IGP.com, emphasized, “Valentine’s is one of India’s biggest gifting occasions, with flowers continuing to be the top choice. With technology at our core, we offer seamless shopping experiences and a diverse range of personalized gifts.”

Aditya Labroo, COO, GIVA, added, “The online gifting sector is driving consumer demand. Our tech-driven omnichannel approach ensures a seamless shopping experience across digital and physical touchpoints.”
