Bangladesh Rising: Earth Fashion Ltd. Pioneers High-End Sustainable Apparel Sourcing

Earth Fashion Ltd. is redefining Bangladesh’s place in the global fashion industry — proving the nation can be a trusted source for premium, value-added apparel. From Basic to Premium — A Decade of Transformation

In an exclusive conversation with Textile Focus, Engr. Shajibur Rahman, General Manager of Earth Fashion Ltd., shared how the company has been leading high-value apparel sourcing for over a decade.

“Many still assume Bangladesh only makes low value-added products, but from day one we have been producing premium items,” Rahman explained. “For example, we offer hunting wear — a product many believe comes only from China. In reality, Bangladeshi manufacturers have been making it for years, and we have successfully exported it to Europe and beyond at premium prices.”

Innovation Through Local Expertise

Among Earth Fashion’s standout offerings is the 100% jute fabric blazer — a signature sustainable innovation that showcases Bangladesh’s design potential.

“These blazers are one of our flagship sustainable products,” Rahman noted. “We’ve exported them to Europe and even presented souvenir pieces to European Union ambassadors. This fabric is among the most natural and eco-friendly materials available, and in many cases, it can replace heavy linen as a sustainable alternative.”

The company also ships outerwear, hunting wear, footwear, leather goods, and handicrafts to both Europe and the United States — earning strong buyer appreciation for the craftsmanship, durability, and design excellence of Bangladeshi products.

Capability Beyond Expectations

Rahman believes Bangladesh has reached a new level of manufacturing maturity.

“Bangladesh is no longer limited to basic items. Our factories have the skill, technology, and know-how to produce any high-SMV, technically complex garment,” he emphasized. “We’ve been demonstrating this for years, and buyers are increasingly recognizing our capabilities.”

The Road to $100 Billion in Exports

Earth Fashion Ltd. has invested heavily in its own development and design teams, enabling continuous innovation. Rahman stressed the importance of R&D and design leadership for Bangladesh to stay competitive with neighboring countries.

“If buyers trust us, we can deliver more high-value products — and that will directly increase export earnings. To achieve Bangladesh’s $100 billion export target, we must move beyond basics. High-value products are the key.”
